Minglik Sar rises to 6,050 meters in the Shimshal Valley of Hunza, standing at the southernmost part of the Pamir mountain range. This unique peak sits at a geographical crossroads where the borders of Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, China, and Pakistan converge. First climbed in 1988 by the legendary Pakistani mountaineer Nazir Sabir, the mountain offers a genuinely unique mountaineering experience in one of the world's most beautiful and unexplored valleys. The expedition traverses high pastures home to yaks, ibex, and snow leopards, leading to a summit that offers breathtaking views of the Karakoram, including the North Face of K2 on clear days. Full day drive on the Karakoram Highway along the Indus River gorge to Chilas.
Drive to Karimabad, Hunza. Enjoy views of Nanga Parbat and Rakaposhi. Visit historic Baltit or Altit Forts.
Drive to Shimshal, the highest village in Hunza. Navigate the dramatic Shimshal gorge and prepare for the trek.
Final preparations, porter load organization, and local acclimatization walks around the village.
Begin trekking through high pastures with grazing yaks toward the first campsite at Wuch Furzeen.
Trek through dramatic high-altitude terrain with views of the Yazghil Sar glacier.
A shorter trek to the summer pastures of Shuijerab, where local shepherds stay with their livestock.
Cross the historic 4,735m Shimshal Pass and establish Base Camp at Shuwert beside the lake.
Full rest day at Base Camp. Optional light exploration of the lakes and rolling meadows.
Climb higher toward 5,200m and return to Base Camp to sleep low, aiding the acclimatization process.
Four days allocated for summit push. Movement to Advanced Base Camp (5,500m) and preparation for weather windows.
Midnight start for the summit. Traverse the ridge to the snow cap. Reach the 6,050m summit by mid-morning.
Buffer day for weather or additional summit attempts.
Final buffer day for the climbing period. Return all gear to Base Camp.
Begin the return trek, descending from the high pass to Purien-e-Ben.
Final trekking day back to Shimshal Village. Celebration with local staff.
Drive back to Karimabad. Enjoy a hot shower and comfortable hotel stay.
Southward journey on the KKH toward Besham or Naran.
Final drive to Islamabad. Farewell dinner and evening for souvenir shopping.
Transfer to Islamabad International Airport for onward flights.
Note: This itinerary requires flexibility. Weather in the Pamirs is erratic and can change within hours. Safety is the priority; the guide may adjust the schedule based on weather windows and team acclimatization. Skardu flights are weather-dependent, so road travel is the primary backup.
