BOOK YOUR 2026 – 2027 EXPEDITION
The window to climb in the Karakoram is brief, and the mountains do not wait. Alpine Karakoram Adventure invites experienced climbers to join our Bondit Peak expeditions for the 2026 and 2027 seasons, with fixed departures scheduled from mid-July through August—the optimal weather window when the Karakoram offers its most stable conditions. Our 30-day expedition covers every detail from your arrival in Islamabad to your safe return, including all permits, logistics, Base Camp infrastructure, and professional support. Bondit Peak remained unclimbed for decades despite numerous attempts by teams from Ireland, New Zealand, and Japan, finally succumbing in July 2022 to a four-man Hungarian team who climbed in pure alpine style . At a corrected elevation of 5,980 meters, this striking mountain in the remote Kanday Valley offers a genuine technical challenge with a relatively short two-day approach. Slots are strictly limited each season. Contact us to secure your place on this uncommercial Karakoram peak.

Bondit Peak rises to 5,980 meters in the remote Hushe Valley region of the Karakoram Range in Pakistan, situated in the Kanday Valley at coordinates 35°20'29.06"N, 76°16'27.59"E . Also formerly known as Muntin Peak, this formidable mountain remained untouched for decades, resisting all attempts by international teams who were turned back by its technical defenses and objective hazards . Teams from Ireland, New Zealand, and Japan tried and failed—as recently as June 2022, just a month before the successful ascent, another team was forced to retreat .
The mountain presents a formidable challenge combining technical ice and snow climbing with the unpredictable nature of the Karakoram. The northeast ridge route climbs approximately 1,500 meters with sections reaching 80 degrees and winter ice difficulty of WI 4, graded TD (Très Difficile) . The approach involves crossing a heavily crevassed glacier with difficult route finding, while hanging glaciers on the mountain itself present serious avalanche dangers that require constant vigilance and sound mountaineering judgment .
What makes Bondit Peak particularly appealing is its relatively accessible location compared to more remote Karakoram objectives. The approach from Kanday village takes just two days to reach Base Camp, making this a feasible expedition for those with limited time. Despite the shorter approach, the mountain delivers a genuine Karakoram experience with spectacular views of the world's highest peaks, including K2, Broad Peak, Gasherbrum I, and Gasherbrum II, all exceeding 8,000 meters .
The successful first ascent came on July 20, 2022, when four members of the Hungarian National Alpine Team—Dr. Laszlo Szasz, Bence Kerekes, Marton Nagy, and Dr. Viktor Agoston—reached the summit in pure alpine style, carrying all their gear themselves . Viktor Agoston later described the experience: "We carried our bags ourselves from the village to base camp, about 10 km. You can't take enough food for a trip like this—we could only absorb about 1,000 to 1,200 calories per day, and at the end, we looked like escapees from a Second World War labor camp. But that's also the beauty of alpine style; you sometimes have to make strategic decisions" .
We know the porters who carry loads with quiet dignity, the cooks who produce hot meals at 4,300 meters, and the guides who have spent decades in the Hushe Valley. Our 30-day itinerary builds in the flexibility the mountain demands—contingency days for weather windows that open and close, and the simple truth that on Bondit Peak, success requires technical mastery, patience, and sound judgment.

Note: This itinerary represents our standard operating plan. Bondit Peak and the Karakoram demand flexibility throughout. Skardu flights cancel frequently due to weather, so road travel serves as backup. Trek timing adjusts based on conditions and group pace. The climbing period is entirely weather and condition dependent—the Hungarian team waited from July 5 to 17 for their weather window . The mountain has seen only a handful of attempts since 2019, with the first ascent as recent as 2022—success requires patience, technical mastery, and sound judgment . We plan thoroughly but adapt constantly. The mountain sets the schedule.
